(p97)The Grapevine " The Wave was just an excuse the hoods had used to start the fight. However, one of the hoods had called the boy a dirty Jew."
I think that the wave is becoming more and more like the Nazi party every chapter. Every school has fights most school has fights because someone did not agree with someone else . And I think little to none end with someone calling the other person a dirty jew.I think that them calling the person (the person that got beat up)a dirty Jew means someone different from them. And like the Nazis you're with them or against them.
This connects to real-life and the Holocaust because groups of people had to go along with the Nazis, or get put down like everybody else Hitler did not like because they were different. You will have been beaten killed or put in jail that why most did what the Nazis told them to do.And in the book The Wave that kid got beat up because he was different The Wave. But instead of being beaten killed or put in the jail you will be an outcast and not part of the group.
It's hard not being a member of the majority, but if the majority is bad, then it is brave to stand up for what is right.
ReplyDeleteCameron you have a great point with the wave being like the Nazis.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about either being with the Nazis or against them. I like how you tied it in with the fighting because you're either with the stronger power of against them. I also liked how you mentioned people being outcasts because they're different and that's why they're getting picked on. That's never a valid reason "I beat him up because he's different". The only type of people who say that are mental people who need to reevaluate their outlooks on others. I agree with Carli about being a loner instead of being picked on everyday. I can't believe you couldn't have your own voice in anything because if you did you'd suffer. The Jews couldn't help being born Jewish. I like your thought about the wave and what they're becoming now. The "filthy Jew" part shows a hint of Nazi in it. You had really good connections between the two.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about either being with the Nazis or not. It really tied in with the fighting situation, either you're with the stronger power or against it. It was absolutely crazy how people didn't have their own voice. And if they did they didn't have it for long because they might have been killed. Although killing someone for being different isn't common now it's still crazy how someone died because they weren't a copy. I agree with Carli that I'd rather be a loner than be picked on because I'm different. Alone but true to yourself is better than fake friends and pretending to be like them. I also liked how you tied in the "filthy Jew" with the Nazis because there is definitely a hint of Nazi there. Your connections between the real life situations and the Nazis were good. Also, your connection between the Wave and the Nazis.
